Piglet - Feeder Piglet
Tamworth piglets are available at 6 to 10 weeks old. These piglets are ideal to raise for personal use. All males are castrated. Gender is not guaranteed. Piglets are sold on a first come, first caught basis. Feeder piglets are not intended as breeding stock. We will contact you after receipt of your order to confirm upcoming litter dates. Piglets are picked up at our main farm location. Please be prepared with large dog kennels or clean covered truck bed to transport piglets home. Piglets are quick, strong, and can jump, so examine your container for weaknesses prior to pick up.
Tamworth hogs are a popular heritage breed, first described in Ireland about 200 years ago. Tamworths are noted for their beautiful red color, thick winter coat and outstanding grazing ability. Originally refered to as Irish Grazers, Tamworths do very well on pasture and can get up to 25% of their feed intake from forage alone. Given proper care and feed, Tamworths should reach butcher weight at 5 - 7 months of age. Pigs do much better psychologically and grow more quickly with a companion. We strongly encourage raising at least 2 pigs together. Pork will taste better from pigs with access to pasture and nutrient-dense forage in addition to their normal grain or high-protein feed. Tamworths are a lean, more "bacon" style pig. The pork is truly amazing. We've seen people cry, the flavor and quality of their pork is so good! Feeder piglets available for pick up at 6 - 8 weeks old.
